…And in Winter

…And in Winter

Morzine is a beautiful mountain resort in the Haute Savoie area of the Rhone Alpes, in South East France.  Geneva airport is just 75km away.  Set in the heart of the Portes du Soleil, Morzine provides access to the largest connected ski area in Europe, covering an amazing 650km of slopes catering for all skiing levels which can be accessed via one ski-pass.

Morzine retains much of it’s charm from origins as an authentic Chablais farming village.  It has been operating as a ski resort since the first hotel was built in the 1920’s. Morzine strives to retain it’s place as a top alpine resort and has invested heavily in state of the art snow making and lift systems for the 2013/14 season.

See Our location on our chalet page.

The Chamossière section

The superb Portes du Soleil ski area

The 3S Gondola at Prodains, linking Morzine with Avoriaz, can carry 2500 passengers an hour.  Also new this season is the fast bubble serving the main Pleney side of town, linking Morzine with Les Gets.

From the new super fast Chamossière chair lift you can make out Lake Geneva to the north, Mont Blanc to the south, and the Swiss border just a short distance away.  In fact you can take breakfast in France, coffee in Switzerland, and be back for afternoon tea in France no problem!

There are 41 green runs, 109 blue runs, 110 red runs, and 28 black runs.  For the experienced skiers and boarders, there is extensive off piste back country and several fantastic snow parks.

Other things to do

There are lots of other activities too, snow shoeing, cross country skiing and ice skating.  There is a new wellness centre with 3 indoor pools (outside Olympic size pool in summer), with steam room and sauna. Morzine has plenty of shops and cafes too.

Non skiers in your party will have plenty to do during the day – much within walking distance - so they too can share their stories around the dining table, to add to the tales of thrills and spills on skis and boards up the hill.
